For the first time in its history, boat shoe brand Christophe Auguin is taking part in the Route du Rhum, alongside skipper Morgane Ursault Poupon. It is with great pride that we take part in this extraordinary adventure by supporting one of the 7 women at the start of the race.

The Route du Rhum: the Transat of Freedom

Created in 1978 by Michel Etevenon, the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe has established itself over the years as the queen of single-handed transatlantic race. For 44 years, sailors from all walks of life have been meeting every 4 years at the start of this incredible transatlantic race which connects Saint-Malo in Brittany to Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe over nearly 3,542 miles (6,562 kilometers!)

Legendary thanks to its diversity and its mix of genres, the Route du Rhum brings together professional skippers and amateur faces for a mythical face-to-face with the ocean.

The girl from the sea

Talented skipper, Morgane Ursault Poupon was born in Vannes in 1986, the same year that her father, Philippe Poupon won the Route du Rhum. Pure Breton, she grew up in La Trinité-sur-Mer and began very early to travel the oceans of the globe alongside her father.

Dedicated to environmental issues, Morgane Ursault Poupon is graduated in Water Management and Control specializing in sustainable development. Observing nature, learning to protect it and understanding the world as it is are some of the subjects that are close to her heart. This is why she will set sail on November 6 aboard the same Class40 that accompanied her in 2018 on the Route du Rhum, but this time, it will be adorned with the colors and the name of "Médecins du Monde".

For more than 20 years, the boat shoe brand Christophe Auguin has celebrated the sea and the sailors who sail it. Sponsoring one of the few women at the start of the Route du Rhum 2022 is an integral part of the direction we want to give to our brand.

Committed since the beginnings, the boat shoe brand Christophe Auguin has always wanted to preserve its French know-how. 20 years later, most of our boat shoes are still made in France in our factory located in Anjou (49). Natural rubber sole, leather from European farms, LWG (Leather Working Group) certified tanneries, we work each season to develop boat shoes from reasoned materials and more eco-responsible manufacturing processes.

Driven by common environmental values ​​and a concern for better workmanship, the boat shoe brand Christophe Auguin sets sail alongside Morgane Ursault Poupon by committing itself as an sponsor.

The whole team can't wait to "taste the Rhum" by closely following this extraordinary human adventure through Morgane's eyes. We wish her a good crossing, properly fitted!
